Our team is committed to providing students with the knowledge, skills and resources required to be active participants in the Australian community. We strive to improve educational outcomes through engaging lessons and quality teaching. We aim to meet the needs of all our students.
The Australian Curriculum enables high expectations to be set for each student as teachers account for the current levels of learning of individual students. Teachers also recognise the differing levels and capabilities that individuals have. Students have access to a curriculum that enables them to explore and understand the world in which they live and to experience a connection with the world beyond.
Years 2/3-6 teachers build supportive relationships as a central key to engaging students in learning. Gray school has adopted the use of The Five Keys from Program Achieve You Can Do It. This program is used throughout classrooms, which aids in building relationships and giving students the skills to be respectful active citizens. It is through this social and emotional program that The Gray Way has been developed. Students in Primary Years are the role models for our school as they represent their student body and model The Gray Way.
Students at Gray Primary School in Year 4 and 5 have the opportunity to participate in music workshops ranging from, drumming lessons through to guitar and ukulele lessons.
Primary students have access to a wide variety of technology enabling them to develop research skills and communicate with the outside world, through the use of XO computers and student laptops.
Students in Primary years are given the opportunity to participate in interschool sporting events, enabling them to develop and understand the importance of sportsmanship and to develop sporting skills.
Students in Years 5 and 6 participate in an annual school camp. It is on this excursion that students engage in outdoor adventure activities focusing on bonding, strengthening relationships and team-building with peers. There is also a strong focus on building confidence, resilience and persistence before entering Middle School.
Our team looks forward to working with parents, students and the Gray School Community to ensure students are given the opportunity to reach their full potential. We look forward to sharing some of the exciting and innovative practices being employed in our primary school classrooms.
